The 5-kingdom system separates living organisms into five groups (plants, fungi, animals, protists and prokaryotes). The 3-domain system separates organisms into 3 groups (Eucarya, Archaea and Bacteria). Thus, the 5-kingdom system separates the eukaryotes into 4 groups and lumps the prokaryotes together, whereas the 3-domain system lumps the eukaryotes together and separates the prokaryotes into two groups.
