John Jacobs was in a real bind. He needed as many people working on this big new contract as he could find. However, most of the applicants to work on the new high-rise condominium he was going to build did not speak English or, at least, not very well. This would be a dangerous job with lots of “high” work and the use of numerous toxic chemicals and compounds. Jacobs does not know what to do. There is not time to provide English classes for employees, but he is concerned about safety issues because of the language barrier. What advice would you give Jacobs concerning how he might handle this situation?
