Use Advanced IP Scanner and Wake on LAN
Advanced IP Scanner by Famatech (www.radmin.com) is freeware recommended by Microsoft that can be used to scan for devices on the network and remotely control them. Go to the Famatech web site and watch the video titled Advanced IP Scanner Video. Then do the following:
1. On Computer 1, download and install the Advanced IP Scanner utility. Use it to scan for computers or other devices on your network.
2. On Computer 2, configure Wake on LAN and put this computer to sleep. Use Advanced IP Scanner to scan again. Did it find the computer that is asleep?
3. Use Advanced IP Scanner to remotely control Computer 2. Can you use the utility to view the desktop of Computer 2? What software did you have to install on Computer 2 so you could remote control it using Advanced IP Scanner?
4. Remotely shut down Computer 2. Can you power up Computer 2 using Advanced IP Scanner?
5. List three reasons why an administrator might find Advanced IP Scanner useful.
