(See Fluids in the News article titled “Tailless helicopters,” Section 5.2.4.) Shown in Fig. P5.64 is a toy “helicopter” powered by air escaping from a balloon. The air from the balloon flows radially through each of the three propeller blades and out through small nozzles at the tips of the blades. Explain physically how this flow can cause the rotation necessary to rotate the blades to produce the needed lifting force.
