In Fig. 7 we show the approach of a representative response curve (solid) to the steady-state oscillation (dotted), for an underdamped system.
Do the same (with a computer plot) for a critically damped case. The values of m, c, k, F0, Ω, x(0), x′(0) are up to you, but the idea is to demonstrate graphically the approach to xp(t) clearly, as we have in Fig. 7.
