In the column below is a list of average weather conditions that prevail during the month of July at San Francisco, California, and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Both cities lie adjacent to an ocean at nearly the same latitude; however, the average weather conditions vary greatly. In terms of the average surface winds and pressure systems (see Fig. p. 270) and the interaction between the atmosphere and ocean, explain what accounts for the variation between the two cities of each weather element.
