Problem
Zoologists studying the ecology of the Serengeti Plain estimate that the average adult cheetah can run 100 km/h and the average springbok can run 65 km/h. If the animals run along the same straight line, start at the same time, are each assumed to have constant acceleration, and reach top speed in 4 s, how close must a cheetah be when the chase begins to catch a springbok in 15 s?
