Use the knowledge you gained from Q of this chapter extension to construct a personal guide to map interpretation. List rules and reminders that you should use when interpreting maps, especially choropleth maps.
Q HOW DO MAPS DECEIVE?
Explain why maps are good candidates for creating deception. Describe the bias in maps and summarize your reaction to the map in Figure 1. Describe thematic and choropleth maps. Summarize interpretation problems for the maps in Figures 2 and 3. What does the map in Figure 3 actually convey? What does it appear to convey? Define MAUP, and explain how it is illustrated in Figures 5 and 6.
