Study of the effect of songs with violent lyrics. A series of designed experiments was conducted to examine the effects of songs with violent lyrics on aggressive thoughts and hostile feelings (Journal of Personality&Social Psychology, May 2003). In one of the experiments, college students were randomly assigned to listen to one of four types of songs: (1) a humorous song with violent lyrics, (2) a humorous song with nonviolent lyrics, (3) a nonhumorous song with violent lyrics, and (4) a nonhumorous song with nonviolent lyrics. Assuming that 120 students participated in the study, use a random-number generator to randomly assign 30 students to each of the four experimental conditions.
