Each Euler diagram in Figure illustrates the following premises:
All As are Bs.
Some Bs are Cs.
State a condition that is present in each diagram that has not been stated as a premise.
SOLUTION:
There are many possible conditions. We will give one for each diagram.
a) Because the circles containing As and Cs do not intersect, we have drawn the extra condition that “No As are Cs.”
b) Because the circles containing As and Cs do intersect, we have drawn the condition that “Some As are Cs.”
c) Because we drew the circle containing As inside the circle containing Cs, we have the additional condition that “All As are Cs.”
