The shaft shown in Fig. 1 rotates with a steady torque of T = 40,000 in. lb and with a flywheel of weight W. Use Equation (14) or Module 3-1 to find the maximum allowable weight for the flywheel if Syp = 60,000 psi, Se = 44,000 psi, Nfs = 2.50, and Kft = Kfb = 1.0.
