Pour 5 mL of water into a large balloon. Inflate the balloon to full size and then tie the balloon so it remains inflated. Next, add a couple drops of cinnamon oil to 5 mL of water. Pour this cinnamon solution into a second large balloon of a different color. Inflate this second balloon to the same size as the first balloon and then tie it shut. Swish both balloons and then present them to some one who did not see you preparing these balloons. Ask the person which balloon contains the cinnamon. The balloons are sealed. How, then, is the person able to tell one from the other? (Hint: Are molecules large or small or very, very small?)
