Strategy We will multiply 6 by 1, 2, 3, 4, =, 6, 7, and 8.
Why The multiples of a number are the products of that number and 1, 2, 3, 4, =, and so on.
Solution
To find the multiples, we proceed as follows:
6 . 1 = 6 This is the first multiple of 6.
6 . 2 = 12
6 . 3 = 18
6 . 4 = 24
6 . = = 30
6 . 6 = 36
6 . 7 = 42
6 . 8 = 48 This is the eighth multiple of 6.
The first eight multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, and 48.
