Frequency of pulses produced by the clock generator =

We have to design a circuit that provides a clock with a cycle time of 50 ns.

Find out the period of the clock generator.

To design such a circuit, use a 2 –bit counter to count 4 pulses, because 1 pulse is generating 12.5 ns time. So, 4 pulses can generate 50 ns.

Find out the frequency of the circuit.

Calculate the cycle time of the circuit.

Thus, a 2 – bit counter produces a clock with a cycle time of 50 ns.

Now a flipflop can divide the frequency by a factor of 2. So, use two flipflop in this case.

Frequency will be divided by a factor of 4.

Thus, the circuit that provides a clock with a cycle time of 50 ns is shown below:
