Many simple occurrences in our daily lives are similar to geologic processes. The following table contains some everyday events that you may have experienced. Match these actions to specific weathering processes. Complete the table by placing an “X” in the columns on the righthand side where appropriate. Identify which characteristic in the left-hand column is analogous (similar) to physical, chemical, or biological weathering. Two characteristics have been completed as examples. At this time, leave the Biological Weathering columns blank. We will return to this part of the exercise in the next section.
