Solution The position of each negative integer is to the left of 0. The position of each positive integer is to the right of 0.
By extending the number line to include negative numbers, we can represent more situations using bar graphs and line graphs. For example, the following bar graph shows the net income of the Kodak Company for the years 2000 through 011.Since the net income in 2004 was positive $556 million, the company made a profit. Since the net income in 2005 was 2$1,362 million, the company had a loss.
