A cell-sorting device sorts cells based on the fluorescence properties of substances in the cells. The cells are put into solution with water and then pass through a vertical lead pipe before going through the probe volume. It is critical that each cell pass through the probe volume only once, therefore turbulence must be avoided at all costs. If the maximum allowable Reynolds number in the lead pipe is 2000, what diameter of tube should be used? The pipe length is 10 cm and you may assume that the pressure at the entrance and exit of the lead pipe are both nearly atmospheric. You may assume that the density and viscosity of the solution are that of water.
