Step-by-Step Solution

Solution 1

Antineoplastics irritate the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth through the rectum, making eating both uncomfortable and unpleasant.  Avoid eating within 1 hour of chemotherapy because this is the time most vomiting occurs. May last for 24 hours. Provide a pleasant environment Select desirable foods Avoid foods with strong odors such as onions and red meats  Encourage a glass of wine with meals because it may stimulate appetite Offer frequent high protein meals that are high in calories that are better tolerated Offer a antiemetic 30 minutes before meals
