Conic sections—hyperbola:

While the conic sections are not covered in detail until later in the course, we’ve already developed a number of tools that will help us understand these relations and their graphs. The equation here gives the “upper branches” of a hyperbola, as shown in the figure. Find the following by analyzing the equation: (a) the domain and range; (b) the zeroes of the relation; (c) interval(s) where y is increasing or decreasing; (d) whether the relation is even, odd, or neither, and (e) solve for x in terms of y.
