The file bismuth contains the transition pressure (bar) of the bismuth II–I transition as a function of temperature (see Example E in Section 14.2.2). Fit a linear relationship between pressure and temperature, examine the residuals, and comment.

Houck (1970) studied the bismuth I–II transition pressure as a function of temperature. The data are listed in the following table (Residuals have been rescaled to have standard deviation equal to 1—this process is discussed further in Section 14.4.4).
