Leadership Development Training courses and other forms of professional development are commonly used by organizations to improve managers’ effectiveness in leading teams, providing the desired motivation to their employees, and leading their SBUs to success. Often these training efforts are designed to develop effective leadership behaviors. For example, a study done within Google identified the following eight behaviors of effective managers:

• Express interest in team members’ success and personal well-being

• Have a clear strategy for the team
• Develop and maintain key technical skills needed by all team members
Required For each of the eight desired behaviors, develop one or two examples of that behavior. For example, providing constructive feedback is a behavior that a good coach would employ.
