A system consists of two identical pumps, #1 and #2. If one pump fails, the system will still operate. However, because of the added strain, the remaining pump is now more likely to fail than was originally the case. That is, r = P(#2 fails | #1 fails) > P(#2 fails) = q. If at least one pump fails by the end of the pump design life in 12% of all systems and both pumps fail during that period in only 8%, what is the probability that pump #1 will fail during the pump design life?

Answer #2

ITS:

2P(A) - P(A AND B)= P(A U B)

2P(A) - 0.08 = 0.12

P(A) = 0.1

Two pumps connected in parallel fail independently of one another on any given day. The probability that only the older pump will fail is 0.25, and the probability that only the newer pump will fail is 0.15. What is the probability that the pumping system will fail on any given day (which happens if both pumps fail)? (Round your answers to four decimal places.) I had put 1/4 and 1/2 however these were proven to be incorrect?

Please answer Question 2 1. Consider a system with two fire pumps in parallel, where each pump can provide 100% of the required firewater. The two pumps are made by the same manufacturer, of the same model and are maintained in the same way. They are both located in the same room. Identify examples of intrinsic and extrinsic dependencies between the two pumps. 2. From the two fire pumps mentioned above (item #1), there are identical steel pipes delivering water...

ge network consists of a conduit, five pressurized pipes, and two pumps A sewage individually or in tandem. The pumps pump sewage water from a wet well (W-1), then sewage is carried through pressurized pipes (P-2, P-3, P-6, P-7 and P-10) and is ultimately discharged into a manhole (MH-5) From MH-5, sewage flows by gravity through a circular concrete conduit (Co-9) and discharges at the outfall (0-3), as shown in the schematic diagram below obtained from a SewerCAD model. that...
