Answer #1

convert mg to g: 325 mg = 0.325 g

molar mass = 180.16g/mol

Number of moles = mass / molar mass = 0.325 g / 180.16 g/mol = 1.8040*10^-3 moles

Each one mole of aspirin gives 9 moles of carbon then

1.8040*10^-3 moles of aspirin = 9*1.8040*10^-3 = 16.2360*10^-3 moles of carbon

Mass of carbon = 16.236*10^-3 mole * 12.0107g/mol = 0.195 g

We can tally this by: % of carbon in 180.16g of aspirin is 9*120107 =  108.10 g of carbon

% composition of C = (108.10/180.16) = 60.00 %

Then 0.325 g of aspiring should contains = 0.325*0.600= 0.195 g of carbon hence our answer is correct.
