The dissolution equation for NiCl3 in aqueous solution is:

Thus, every mole of NiCl3 dissolves into 1 moles of Ni+ and 3 mole of Cl-

If the original concentration of  NiCl3 is 0.550 M, then

[ Ni+] = 1×0.550 M = 0.550 M

[ Cl- ] = 3×0.550 M = 1.65 M
