Answer #1

Arrhenius defined an acid as a substance that dissociates to produce H+ ions , and a base as a substance that dissociates to produce OH- ions

1) NAOH(s) --H2O-> NA+ + OH- ..... a base dissolves in water to produce hydroxide ions

4) H2SO4 ? H+ + HSO4-
because it produces H+ ions it is an acid

3) HBr ? H+ + BR-
Because it produces H+ ions it is an acid

4) Sr(OH)2 ? Sr 2+ + 2OH-
Because it produces OH- ions it is a base.
