The nurse should set the IV pump to deliver how many mL/hr? (Round the answer to the nearest whole number. Use a leading zero if it applies. Do not use a trailing zero.)

ANSWER.

* Calculation of ml/hr.

        ml/hr = Volume(ml) / Time

     Calculation of volume(ml).

         Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

   Here

       Desired dose(D) = 300 mg.

       Dose in hand (H) = 300 mg.

           Quantity(Q) = 50 ml.

As per above formula

         Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                       = 300/300 * 50

                                                       = 1 * 50

                                                       = 50 ml.

                               Time (hr) = 0.75 hr (45 min).

           ml/hr = 50 / 0.75

                     = 66.67

                     = 67 ml/hr.
