• The social security act of 1935 was established on august 14,1935.This act established a system of old age benefit for workers,accident victims,unemployement insurence,aid foe dependent mothers and children,the blind and the physically handicapped.

Bedfore 1930's supprt for the elderly was a matter of local, state, and family rather than a federal concern.President Roosevelt signed the social security act.

The bill includes-an old age pension program

-unemployement insurance funded by employers

-health insurance for the people in financial distress

-financial assistance for widows with children

-financial assistance for disabled individuals

-Medicare is federal program which provides health coverage after the age of 65 years with severe disability and not related to the income of the person.Medicaid is a state and federal program which provides health coverage for only low income people.

purposes of medicare:confined to outpatient services,covers some procedures such as x-ray,nursing care and some medical equipment like walkers and prescribed drug cost coverage

purposes of medicaid:family planning care,prescribed drug cost,inpatient/outpatient hospital services,pediatric services,mental health services, occupational,speech and physical therapies and dental health care.

• Health people is a program of nation wide health promotion and disease preveention.The goals of this program was set by United states department of health and human services.

The 1st issue is on a report announcing goals for 10 year plan to reduce controllable health risks in nutrition.This report recommended diets with low calories,fat,sugar and salt relatively complex carbohydrates,fish and poultry and less red meat.So the report advised the consumers to be careful with processed foods.

The goals were updated up to Healthy people 2000,Healthy people 2010,Healthy people 2020.

The importance of healthy people in health education is
