Non selective beta blockers are the sub class of Beta blockers. These are used to treat high blood pressures.Eg.Inderal, Nadalol.

Effects of Non selective beta blockers on certain organs:

Eyes : These actually maintains retinal blood blow when administered in case of higher levels of blood pressures. They actually decrease the pressure in the eyes which in turn avoiding nerve damage. Also side effects such as blurred vision, head aches, redness of eyes and slow heart rates are common side effects.

Airway : Non selective beta blockers actually narrows the bronchioles which affects the free flowing of air in to lungs and thus causes difficulty in breathing.

Respiratory rate : These drugs actually increases the rate and depth of respiration as there is difficulty in breathing.

Gastrointestinal motility : Non selective beta blockers causes diarrhoea, abdominal cramping, constipation epigastric distress, colitis etc.

Production of Glucose by liver: These drugs causes or prolongs the symptoms of hypoglycemia , where as drastically increases blood glucose concenteation affecting the action of hypoglycemuc drugs.
