People often assume there is a difference in the quality of care between For-Profit and Non-Profit hospitals. Describe two specific measures of the quality of inpatient care that would help you determine if this assumption were true. Is there any bias you need to address in utilizing those measures?

Answer: The difference in the quality of care between for profit and non profit hospital occurs. Some of the measures that could reveal about the quality of inpatient between them are:

  • The quality of care that is being provided to the patient in for profit and non profit hospitals could be compared. It can reveal about the differences as the readmission rates. The readmission rates that is higher in any of the hospitals would indicate that there is low quality of care is being provided to the patients.
  • The mortality rate is a kind of indicator that in which kind of hospitals the quality care, treatment and services that are provided in both the hospitals. The increased mortality rate would signify about the working conditions of the hospitals.

These measures shows the better results to find out the difference of care and treatment provided to the patients. And hence these are the normal measures that could be taken for the identification.
