The medical director makes rounds and writes to start an IV of D5 in.25 normal saline @ 75 ml/hr, and insert a retention catheter (Foley catheter) to straight drainage. The above description suggests patient has suffered from urinary tract infection with Escherichia coli,which is Gram negative, anaerobic bacteria lives in intestine of healthy people

Some strain cause abdominal cramps and brief diarrhoea

Due to improper hand hygiene and improper cleaning technique can spread to urinary tract and present symptoms of U T.I.

In above case same has happened

Lab values of above patient suggests infection increased count of WBC and elevated temp. And urine analysis suggests increased colonies of E.coli and urine culture and sensitivity suggest to use described antibiotics

Fluid and drug volume is appropriate

There is need to train the patient for cleaning technique from vagina to anus(above to below)

Sign of infiltration is coolness and swelling at insertion site and assessment sign of fluid overload is -daily weight gain,edema ,juglar vein distension and increased blood pressure

All HCP should use PPE when handling fecal matter and urin
