The Owlet Sock monitor wraps around a baby’s foot. It uses pulse oximetry. The device has a green light to show that everything is alright. It notifies us with lights and sounds if heart rate and oxygen levels are irregular.
Advantages
The Owlet sock monitor is a safe and easy way to track a child's oxygen levels and heart rate. This device alerts if a baby is in danger from either a high or low heart rate or oxygen levels. You can also check on a baby from anywhere through the cell phone with app that is given by Owlet.
Disadvantages
This device is not approved by Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA). It emits Electro Magnetic Field radiation. It does not prevent Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). It is not considered as a medical device.
Parents should use it as it helps minimise the risk of SIDS i.e, It helps parents to know if the baby is choking or suffocating.
