What effect does the length of a string have on the wavelength of the vibrations?
Answer)
The length of the string is always half the wavelength of the lowest frequency standing wave. Hence, changing the length will affect wavelength and hence tension of the string which finally affects the frequency of the wave.Increase in tension increases frequency and vice-versa.

What effect does the length of a string have on the wavelength of the vibrations?
*142 An oscillator that generates a sinusoidal wave on a string completes 40 vibrations in 50 s. The wave peak is observed to travel a distance of 1.4 m along the string in 5 s. What is the wavelength?
2. A string of mass 3.25g is measured to have a length of 3.000m. If a mass of 750g is hung off of this string what is the speed of waves traveling on this string? Show your work. . Suppose the string of question 2 is used in a run in this experiment. The length of string between the string vibrator and pulley is measured to be 1.120m. When 750g are hung off of this string, 5 nodes are seen...
when you have a standing wave, how is the length of the string related to the wavelength of vibration? (hint: how is a loop length related to the wavelength of the vibration?)
In a phasor representation of a transverse wave on a string, what does the length of the phasor represent? the displacement at any given moment of a point on the string the transverse speed of a point on the string the displacement amplitude of the wave the speed of the wave along the string Click if you would like to Show Work for this question:
How long does a harp string need to be for the wavelength of vibration (fundamental mode) on the string to be 1.00 m long? The tension in the string is adjusted so that it vibrates at 220. Hz. What is the speed of sound on the string then?

You have a string with a mass of 12.9 g. You stretch the string with a force of 9.19 N, giving it a length of 1.95 m. Then you vibrate the string transversely at precisely the frequency that corresponds to its fourth normal mode, that is, at its fourth harmonic. What is the wavelength of the standing wave you create in the string? What is the frequency? Wavelength? (m) Frequency? (Hz)
