Answer #1

Jelly Bros.Tools,Inc, sets its selling price at 200% of Replacement cost i.e., $850*200% = $1700.

Year LIFO added Units   Unit cost Total cost

2015 200 $740    $148000

2016 190 $780 $148200

2017 170 $820 $139400

2018 650 $850 $552500

TOTAL 1210 $816.6    $ 988100

Current cost gross margin (on replacement basis) = Total revenue - unit cost

i.e., = (1150*$1700) - (1150*$816.5)

=$1955000 - $919090

= $1035910

Gross margin under LIFO method :

cost of goods sold = ( 650*850) + ( 170*820) + ( 190*780) + (140*740)

= 552500 + 139400 + 148200 + 103600

= $943500

Gross margin under LIFO method = Total revenue - unit cost

i.e., =1955000-943500

=$1011500

(a) Difference between current cost gross margin under replacement cost basis and Gross margin under LIFO method is $24410
