Penrose drain - It is named on a gynecologist of America Charles Bingham Penrose, who invented this drain.
This drain basically a small and soft rubber tube placed inside a surgical site to drain blood and fluid build off in the surgical site.
Hemovac - It is a closed drain. This has two-part one soft tube and one container, that can create negative pressure. One end of the tube is placed in the surgery site and another end of the tube is connected with the container.
The container creates suction pressure which drains extra fluid and blood from the surgical site to the container.
Jackson Pratt drain - It is a closed drain also known as jp drain. This is quite similar to hemo vac drain but it is smaller from hemo vac drain, it can collect up to 50 ml of fluid.
This has two-part one soft tube and one grande shaped container. One end of the tube is placed in the surgery site and another end of the tube is connected with the container.
