Answer #1

Consider a molecular equation, 2 HBr (aq) + Ca(OH) 2 (aq) phpAvQF2b.png CaBr 2 (aq) + 2 H2O (l)

In above reaction, HBr is a strong acid & Ca(OH) 2 is a strong base ,they dissociates completely into ions when dissolved in water.

HBr (aq) phptAeSEh.png H3O + (aq) + Br - (aq)

Ca(OH) 2 (aq) phpAvQF2b.png Ca 2+ (aq) + 2 OH - (aq)

We can write equation, 2 H3O + (aq)+2 Br - (aq) + Ca 2+ (aq) + 2 OH -(aq) phpAvQF2b.png Ca 2+ (aq) +2 Br - (aq)+2 H2O (l)

Above equation is called complete ionic equation.

In above equation, Ca 2+ & Br - ions are present on both sides of equation and are called spectator ion. On cancelling these  ions we can write net ionic equation as

2 H3O + (aq) + 2 OH -(aq) phpAvQF2b.png 2 H2O (l) or H3O + (aq) + OH -(aq) phpAvQF2b.png  H2O (l)

This reaction is classified as A. Strong Acid + Strong Base

Extent of this reaction is D. 100 %
