Organic compounds which have -OH group attached to an aliphatic carbons are called alcohols.

The carbon containing the -OH group that is attached to one carbon is called a primary alcohol. If two carbons are attached then it is called a secondary alcohol. If three carbons are attached then it is called a teritiary alcohol.

The primary alcohols : III

The option IV also contains a primary alcoholic and secondary alcoholic group.

The oxygen atom attached to two aliphatic or aromatic groups then it is called an ether. R-O-R.
