Esterification reaction is a process of formation of ester from carboxylic acid and alcohol . When carboxylic acid react with alcohol in the presence of catalyst then it forms Ester and water molecule.

If water molecule is taken with 80% of propanol then and the formation of Ester will decrease because of the excess amount of water in the solution according to law of kinetics reaction proceeds in backward direction because of the amount of water increases.

R-COOH + R-OH ------> R-COOR + H2O
