Imagine an investigation by the regulatory board has shown substantial evidence of misconduct by a physician at your medical facility.

What sort of action would be taken by the regulatory board? What will happen to the physician?

What would you do as a risk manager to prevent future occurrences?

1 The practice of medicine is a daunting and demanding job.Therefore keeping up with changing medical care standards and good intentions may not be enough to satisfy acceptable standards of professional conduct. The Regulatory board will take a corrective action plan by jeoprdizing the licence.

2 Conviction of a crime,illegal use of controlled substances,denying care to someone because of race,colour or ethnicity ,being a habitual abuser of alcohol or narcotics are all reasons for discipliniary action against a physician.

3 I will temporarily suspend the concerned physician and perform immediate root cause analysis.
