After conducting her history, you learn that she is an excellent cook and she and her family love to eat foods that reflect their Hispanic heritage. She is married with two school-age children. She attends class a total of 15 hours per week, plus she must be present for 12 hours of labs and clinical. She maintains the household essentially by herself and does all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, and chauffeuring of the children. She states that she is lucky to get 5 hours of sleep per night, but that is okay with her. She drinks coffee all morning to "keep her going." She lives 1 hour from campus and commutes each day, and often drinks diet cola to "stay awake." When asked what she does to relax and de-stress, Maria states she "doesn't even have time to think about that."

According to the passage above, Maria is having hectic and stressful life style...

1) additional assessment data such as food habits, smoking and drinking habits, physical activity must be collected... as she and her family is fond of having food we must ensure what kind of food are they consuming... if they weight gain is seen in the family then the cause can be food habits also.. she has mentioned that she drinks diet coke , we must know the quantity of it and also coffee. We must also enquire about sleep pattern.. is it deep or disturbed sleep... we must also enquire about hereditary disease also.... these are some of the additional data we must collect.. her menstrual pattern must be analysed, as she is 40 years old she did not attain menopause. Few conditions such as PCOS , PCOD will also lead to weight gain.

2) we can notice that he sleep is less and also her blood pressure is in hypertensive state 1 .. she might progree to hypertension stage 2 If there is no healthy lifestyle.

3) health promotion for Maria is very much important... it should be done in various aspect of life such as sleep , food habits, physical activity , and also stress management.. healthy food habits must be followed in order to reduce weight, control blood pressure and other risk factors associated with gain. Physical activity such as nature walk must also be done in order to relieve from stress and give rest to the body and mind. We should recommend at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep in order to give rest and get ready for proper metabolism of the body.
