Focusing with the client is a therapeutic communication technique used by nurses, and other members of the health care team, that facilitates the client's abilities to focus on and pay attention to the matters at hand, which should reflect the client's priorities. At times, some clients may use the nurse's presence to talk about things not even related to their health care and their health care problems.
