Endocrine system is a group of glands that produces hormones that helps to regulated growth, metabolism, reproductive function. Adrenal glands are suprarenal glands located as a crown over the both kidneys. It consists of two parts namely adrenal cortex and adrenal medulla. Adrenal glands helps in regulating metabolism, maintenance of to blood pressure . Lack of adrenal hormone production results in adrenal insufficiency named as Addison's disease.
Adrenal cortex produces hormones cortisol, aldosterone, Androgenic steroids (testosterone and Dihydroepiandrosterone). Adrenal medulla layer produces epinephrine (adrenaline),nor epinephrine (noradrenaline).
The correct option : d) proteins. Adrenal gland is responsible to produce steroid hormone in response to stress, Amines are derived from amino acids and also secreted by adrenal medulla. Epinephrine acts as a neurotransmitter mainly produced by adrenal medulla. Epinephrine stimulates sympathetic nervous system in a stressful situation resulting in tachycardia, blood pressure, and increase in blood glucose metabolism.
