Statistical study relates to the statistical treatment of various data. These data are the raw material upon which the statisticians work.These data can be obtained by various methods.Then this data is summarized and classified for a better understanding.But even classification of data may not help us in corresponding the data completely and in deriving any meaningful conclusion.The data may still be very large to understand or remember. It is therefore,essential that data must be further summarized and condensed in a manner that it is expressed in one single value,This single value describes the characteristics of the entire data. Such a single value is called 'central value' or an 'average'.

*An average is always rigidly defined.There is no scope of misunderstanding or misinterpretations.

*It will be the representative of the mass data.

*It is easy to understand.

*It is least affected by the discrepancies in the data(.If one or two very small or very large items unduly affect the average ,it cannot be taken as representative of the entire series.)

.Questionnaire consists of question sheets which contain all questions relating to the inquiry to collect the required information from the respondents .Usually questionnaire is mailed.But now we have advanced technologies like hand held services like clickers text messages etc.This is very quick and we can complete our assigned work faster than before.This method is suitable when informants are educated and spread over a wide geographical area which is very much possible through modern technology.
