1. 12-year-old child lies in the transition stage as their childhood is going to be replaced with teenage soon, this age group have different cognition and thinking as well as they perceive things differently then other groups. In this case the physical examination of this child is to be done, the nurse has to keep in mind some basic things while dealing with this age group.

The personal space and privacy is crucial to children and they can get nervous easily if they perceive violation of their wishes. Nurse should make sure to keep his parents in the room while examining him and achieve consent from them before having a physical contact with the child. Also, nurse should explain the child the process of examination and what is to be done to him, proper explanation, communication and a rapport building will help in gaining child's cooperation.

Moreover, nurse has to keep in mind that during the examination any equipment used should be showed to the child, explained its use and he should be made comfortable first and then examined.
