Think back to an event you attended in the past year that was subpar. (Wedding, conference, sporting event, etc.)

1. Describe in detail three things that were bad or went wrong with the event

AND

2. Describe in detail how you would fix each of those three bad things

Most event types, tend to have room for improvement in which large sections of the society or college we are in participate and attend. A similar such event that I attended was an economic conference in our school/college which had speakers from within the campus, and offered key insights about globalization and how it is helping to transform the business for companies in the United States and beyond.

However, as mentioned above, no event is usually perfect and there is always scope for improvement this was no exception in the case also. The details, are as described in length.

Things that went wrong and how to Correct:-

1) No Room for Feedback:-

The audience always appreciates giving feedback to members which present the event. This involves filling in a small questionnaire, or allowing for some necessary time for the audience to ask their questions from the speaker.

Involvement in such events of both the speaker and the audience is extremely important which most event manager fail to realize, and hence the contents of such meetings becomes monotonous and boring in nature respectively.

The core remedy to such situations is allowing for a brief time for answering questions of the audience and involving them as part of the debate. This allows for the event to be more successful as participants can also gain from the knowledge which people may lack at times.

2) Having Irrelevant Guests:-

The guest list of any event should be kept small enough, that only likeminded people attend the same. In this case, since the event was open for all in the campus, most students were only creating problems than adding value to the event.

Keeping a check on the number of attendees and their competencies in such critical detailed events is extremely important. This can be evaluated by providing invite passes or using other resources to restrict entry of unwanted people in the event respectively.

3) Allowing Equal Time:-

In a discussion of globalization, I felt that the entire discussion focused on benefits of globalization primarily because it favored our own country. The people apposing this were only a few and did not have adequate time, to keep their points in front of the target audience.

Many developing countries are yet to feel the benefits of globalization and their economy is very vulnerable when it comes to competition from imports.

Such points were not raised, primarily because of lack of equal time frame which in my opinion is extremely crucial for the development of any logical debate and was denied to the students respectively.

Thus, events must not be biased in their approach to the views of the majority and must also allow other opinions to be displayed properly.
