  • This question is based on Calorimetry and specific heat capacity.
  • I am defining here every term which is used in question.
  • Specific heat capacity is a type of energy.
  • It is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of substance by 1 degree celsius temperature.
  • It is represented by the symbol 'c'.
  • The formula of specific heat capacity is as follows:
  • q = m.c.∆T

where,

q = heat energy in Joules (J),

m = mass of a substance (in kg),

c = specific heat (in  J/kg∙K),

∆ = a symbol which means "the change in"

and

T = Temperature.

  • Now, I am defining here calorimeter.
  • The calorimeter is a device which is used to measure or determine the heat flow of any chemical reaction or we can say which is used to measure physical change. This process of measuring the heat flow of any reaction is called calorimetry.
  • A basic calorimeter contains a metal container in which water is present above from combustion chamber, in metal container a thermometer is kept which is used to measure the change in temperature.
  • According to question and formula, The answer and calculation of question 1 and 2 is correct.
  • The calorimeter consist a metal container in which water is present and a thermometer is also present to measure the temperature change, while transferring the metal if some water is splashed out that would create a major problem in performing the experiment because the fixed mass of metal will become change and the thermometer is also measure the different temperature change so this activity should be avoided and it is necessary for getting the accurate results of experiment.
  • The reaction of metal with water is generally exothermic in nature that means heat will given to surrounding from system and temperature of surrounding become increases and temperature change will also become increases. According to formula q = m.c.∆T, if temperature change increases the specific heat capacity will be decreases or lower than expected.
