Discuss examples in which statistical methods are used, or have been used, in chemical analysis. Identify the statistical methods used, and describe the implementation of these methods as well as the benefits obtained from their use. Explain using f-Test, t-Test, Grub's test, methods in least-squares/linear regression analysis, and multivariate analysis (ANOVA). Do not use methods in principle components analysis (PCA), PCR, Simplex optimization.

Answer #1

Statistical methods are used many places, we shall discuss one by one.

As in case of t test, it is used when we have to compare two different samples coming from same normal population or to test single mean under some assumption.

As f test is used when we have to compare more than two sample sets coming from same normal population.

In anova technique, we have to compare effect of two or more than two treatment on yield .

This is mainly used in chemical or agriculture experiments .

Least square technique is uses to find best fit of a given model using the sample data.

Discriminant analysis seeks to identify which combination of quantitative IVs best predicts group membership by a single DV that has two or more categories. T F In binary logistic regression, the DV is a dichotomous variable. T F Factor analysis and principal components analysis are different techniques, but they are very similar. T F Factor analysis allows the researcher to explore the underlying structures of an instrument or data set and is often used to develop and test a theory....

Regression and Correlation Methods: Correlation, ANOVA, and Least Squares This is another way of assessing the possible association between a normally distributed variable y and a categorical variable x. These techniques are special cases of linear regression methods. The purpose of the assignment is to demonstrate methods of regression and correlation analysis in which two different variables in the same sample are related. The following are three important statistics, or methodologies, for using correlation and regression: Pearson's correlation coefficient ANOVA...

You have been promoted to sales manager of a company that manufactures robots used to assemble automobiles. Although your sales force is given a suggested price at which to sell the robots, they have considerable leeway in negotiating the final price. Past sales records indicate that sometimes there is a large difference in the selling prices that sales reps are able to negotiate. You are interested in knowing if this difference is significant or whether this observed difference in selling...
