ANESTHESIA: General
Under general anesthesia, this 36-year-old male was prepped and draped in the usual fashion.
After placing the patient in the lithotomy position, a 3.5-cm incision was made in the left marsupium and a hydrocele was visualized. Hemostasis was achieved. The hydrocele was located in the tunica vaginalis and was dissected and brought through the incision site. The hydrocele was surgically excised, and a drain was placed. The wound was closed in layers using 3-0 chromic sutures. The patient was sent to the recovery room in stable condition and tolerated the procedure well.

Hydrocele refers to swelling in the nut sack that occurs when the fluid is collected in the sheath that surrounds the testicles. It can develop in fetal period due to congenital defect between sac of abdominal cavity and the testicles. In adults it occurs secondary to infection and inflammatory conditions of the testicles or due to sexually transmitted infections.
