Electronic health records are one measure to improve patient health care or it is a record of a patient's medical details (including history and physical examination) in digital format.  It is more commonly using in some of the biggest facilities within the United States. On a daily basis, it is highly used by physicians, nurses and other health professionals

MAJOR CHALLENGES/ STRENGTHS OF USING ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD:

There are many challenges in using Electronic Medical record in most of the health facilities. They are a) Skyrocketing cost b) safety and Privacy ( major threat to patient privacy and confidentiality)  c) functionality and inter-operability d) professional relationships (results in more impersonal and lack of face to face clinical documentation) e) minimal error can lead to big loss of data.

STRENGTHS:

1. It gives quick and simple access to all of the patient information to provide accurate and speedy diagnosis.

2. It helps to feed the data by typing rather than confusion of letters by writing orders

3. Through electronic medical records, the consumption of massive amount of paper can be saved

4. Rather than focusing on paper filing patient data they can spend more time to treat the patients.

5. It gives correct and accurate data till date. Automatically it update all patient details to the record
