What expectations are placed on a physician when a patient tests positive for HIV or is diagnosed with AIDS and that patient has a sexual or needle sharing partner?

Answer: HIV or AIDS is one the disease which is transmitted sexually as well as coming in contact with the body fluid of person such as blood, semen etc. It doesn't spread through shaking hand with the patient or talking.

Physicians try to do their best to treat the patient such as minimise the symptoms and problems due to the AIDs, if the patient is having sexual partner then the physician will recommend taking precautions while being intimate and try to avoid multiple partners. This may prevent the spreading of the infection as it is sexually transmitted disease.

Physicians has to look into this kind of case very keenly so that prevention can be established for being spread to other people.
