A sample of cocaine is submitted to a Toxicology lab and is tested on a TLC plate. why the plate will not be observable using similar UV lamps we used in class?

The cocaine sample is highly nonpolar, so that one can't observe in a UV lamp.

But the IR can be done, due to the presence of two ester linkages present in cocaine.
